The project to create UAV strike units is being implemented with the participation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and the UNITED24 fundraising platform.
The effectiveness of UAV strike units is hard to underestimate. Over the last month alone, the strike units provided to the Army of Drones have destroyed 112 tanks, 185 armored combat vehicles and another 192 pieces of enemy equipment, ranging from self-propelled artillery systems to trucks.
“The pickup trucks allow us to be mobile, so that the strike units can react to active enemy combat operations in a timely and effective manner. This is the key to save the life of a soldier, who can be evacuated and provided with medical assistance in time. Additionally, a pickup truck is a spacious vehicle. It is often necessary to transport large attack copters and equipment that would not fit in other vehicles. Of course, it is better when the vehicles are new, as it increases the confidence of the personnel. It allows them to concentrate on performing combat missions rather than repairing the vehicles frequently,” the Commander of the Strike UAV Unit of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, named after the Black Zaporozhians, nicknamed ‘Student’.
“We all see the role drones play on the frontline every day. They are not only the eyes of our army, but also an effective tool for destroying enemy equipment and manpower. Drones save the lives of our defenders, and this is an absolute priority. We appreciate what the Ministry of Digital Transformation is doing, and we are honored to join them in equipping the Army of Drones,” Andriy Matyukha, Founder of the Ukrainian company, FAVBET.
The full equipment of the UAV strike units includes drones for reconnaissance and strike missions, Starlinks for uninterrupted communication on the battlefield, and pickup trucks. In two months, the UAV strike units were equipped with 216 drones, 15 Starlinks and 64 trucks.
